Senior energy officials from the G20 are meeting today in Bariloche, in the southern Argentine region of Patagonia, for the final day of the G20 Meeting of Energy Ministers. Official activities started at 9.00 am at the Llao Llao Hotel & Resort and will continue throughout the day.

After the opening remarks made by Juan José Aranguren, Argentina’s Minister of Energy and Mining, discussions are to centre around energy transitions, affordable access to energy and the role played by technological innovation. Participants will also address a series of reports by international organizations about renewable energies, energy efficiency and data transparency, among other topics.

In the afternoon, industry expert Michael Liebreich, founder of Bloomberg New Energy Finance, will discuss the global energy market outlook.

At 5.15 pm, after the meeting has finished, Minister Aranguren, together with Thorsten Herdan, Germany’s Director General of Energy Policy, and Yoji Muto, Japan’s State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, will offer a press conference to brief on the meeting’s highlights. The press conference will be livestreamed on the G20 YouTube channel.

Mitsunari Okamoto, Japan’s Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Relations; Rick Perry, US Secretary of Energy; James Gordon Carr, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources; and Susana Jiménez, Chile’s Minister of Energy, are among the participants at this G20 energy ministerial.
